Dragon Kids Land

Your child, in the middle of the story

The personalised book

Four steps, a few minutes of your evening, and a book in which the hero has your child's name, the face you designed for them and your child's obsession with dinosaurs.

How it works

You do two of these. We do the other two.

  1. Step 1Design your cast

Build the character in the studio. No photograph, ever.

Skin, hair, eyes, build, glasses, freckles and clothes, chosen from a fixed set of options. You adjust it until it looks like your child. We never ask for a picture and there is no upload step anywhere.

  2. Step 2Choose the adventure

Add the name and age, then pick the kind of story.

Courage before a first day at school, or being kind when nobody is watching, or simply a long journey with something odd at the end of it. You choose what the story is quietly about.

  3. Step 3We generate it

    The story and the illustrations.

The words and the pictures are made together so they match. The character you designed is written out in full for every page, so it is the same child throughout. It takes a few minutes and you do not have to watch.

  4. Step 4Read it together

On a phone, a tablet, or printed at home.

It opens in the browser, works offline once loaded, and comes with a PDF laid out for printing if you would rather hold the thing in your hands.

Why this is not the same as the app in the advert

There are a lot of tools that will put a name into a story and call it personalised. Three things separate this from that.

Written in a real house voice

Every story is written to the same standards as the rest of the library: read-aloud rhythm, a real ending, nothing frightening left hanging. It is not a machine emptying a bucket of adjectives onto a page.

One hero, drawn the same way throughout

The child on page one is the child on page twelve. Same face, same hair, same jumper. Most tools lose the character between illustrations, and children notice immediately when that happens.

The child is the protagonist, not a find and replace

The name, the age range and the hero you pick change what happens in the plot. Swapping a name into a fixed template is a different product, and it reads like one.

Designed, not uploaded

There is no upload step. You pick the skin, the hair, the eyes, the build, the glasses and the clothes, and we keep the result as a description in words. You are in charge of every part of it, and words can be repeated exactly, so the child on page one is still the child on page twelve. A photograph can only ever be guessed at.

Questions people ask first

Do you need a photograph of my child?
No, and that is deliberate. There is no upload step anywhere in the product. You design the character yourself, which means we never receive a picture of a child, never store one, and never have to ask you to trust us with one. It also means there is nothing for us to lose.
How do I make the character look like my child?
You choose the skin tone, the hair colour, the hair style, the eye colour, the build, the freckles, the glasses and the clothes. Most parents land on something recognisable in a couple of minutes. It is a storybook drawing rather than a portrait, which is rather the point of a storybook.
How long does it take to make a story?
Usually a few minutes from the moment you finish the form. You do not need to keep the page open. We will tell you when it is ready.
Is my child really the main character?
Yes. The story is written around your child from the start, so their name, their age range and the hero you pick shape what actually happens. It is not a template with a name dropped into it.
Is every story different?
Yes. Two children with the same name, the same age range and the same chosen theme will get different stories, because the writing happens fresh each time rather than being pulled off a shelf.
Does it work on a phone and a tablet?
It works on both, and on a laptop. The reading view is built for a phone held in one hand in a dark room, because that is where most of this gets read.

The rest of them are on the pricing page.
