A girl is made to sleep in the ashes by her stepmother and stepsisters while they go to the ball. With help from her godmother she gets one night out, one beautiful dress, and one warning: be home by midnight. She very nearly is.
A queen owns a mirror that cannot lie, and one morning it gives her an answer she does not want. Her stepdaughter is sent into the forest to be got rid of, finds a cottage belonging to seven miners, and is warned three times not to open the door. She opens it three times.
Three pig brothers leave home to build houses of their own. Two of them hurry, building with straw and sticks so they can go and play. The third takes his time and builds with brick. When a hungry wolf comes knocking, only one house is still standing, and all three brothers learn why it pays to do a job properly.
A man steals lettuce from a witch's garden for his pregnant wife, and pays for it with the baby. The girl grows up alone in a tower with no door and no stairs, and does not know that either of those things is strange, until somebody who is not the witch calls up from the bottom.
A girl in a red hood takes a basket to her grandmother's cottage and meets a wolf on the path who asks exactly the right questions. He gets there first. What follows is the most famous conversation in any fairy tale, and it does not end the way she expects.
A fairy nobody remembered to invite curses a newborn princess to die on a spindle. A younger fairy, hiding behind the curtain with her gift still unspent, cannot undo it and argues it down to a hundred years of sleep instead. In Perrault's original there is no kiss at the end. The hundred years is simply up.
You design the character from a fixed set of options. We never ask for a photograph. Then you pick the kind of hero, and we write a brand new story around them. We are not taking orders yet. Join the waitlist and we will email you when it opens.
Every story tells you how long it takes, what age it suits, and how frightening it is on a scale of nought to five. There are questions to ask afterwards, and a short version for the nights when there is no time.
