What this song is about
Head Pops Through makes getting dressed feel like a game of peekaboo. The jumper goes over the head, the face pops out, "Peekaboo!", then sleeve number one and sleeve number two. It is a song for busy mornings and for the age when children want to do it themselves but need a little help with the order.
Each verse teaches one trick that nursery teachers use. Scrunch the sock into a ring before the toes go in. Sit down first for trousers, one leg, then the other, then stand and pull them up. And the famous coat flip: coat on the floor, hood at your toes, arms in the sleeves, and flip it over your head. Breaking dressing into small, named steps helps children remember what comes next and feel proud when they finish, "Look at me, I'm dressed!". In the bridge, the Dragon's wings get tangled in a jumper until a grown-up finds one with two wing holes.
Sung and danced with the Dragon, our mascot who learns new things alongside children.

Questions parents ask
What is the coat flip trick?
Lay the coat on the floor, open, with the hood next to the child's toes. The child puts both arms into the sleeves and flips the coat over their head, and it lands on their shoulders.
What age is it for?
Ages 2 to 6. Two-year-olds enjoy the peekaboo; four- to six-year-olds can follow every step on their own.
Why sit down to put on trousers?
Sitting means children don't have to balance on one leg, so they are less likely to topple over and more likely to manage on their own.
