What this song is about
Sparkle-Puff Christmas is a cheerful Christmas morning song for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. It is the Dragon's first Christmas morning too: the little dragon never breathes fire, it puffs small cool clouds that sparkle over the presents. The chorus is the fun part of opening a present, made into moves: rustle the paper, tug the bow, peek inside with a big surprised face, and say thank you.
The verses follow the whole morning. A big stretch, a peek into the stocking and down the stairs holding the rail. Then giving matters as much as getting: a present I wrapped for you, a hug and a thank you, and all the paper and ribbons scrunched into the box. The bridge is about sharing, your turn, my turn, until the blocks tumble down, and then the snow starts falling. Outside, a snowflake lands on a mitten, the snow friend gets a hat, and a little chant reminds everyone that snow is not a snack and icy ponds are for staying away from.
Sung and danced with the Dragon, our mascot who learns new things alongside children.

For grown-ups
A safe and happy Christmas morning: little hands, small parts and wrapping paper need a grown-up nearby.
- Keep toys with small parts, magnets and button batteries away from babies and toddlers; you handle the scissors and the batteries.
- Paper and packaging go straight into a box, never over heads, and ribbons never round necks.
- Use the stair gate and hold hands on the stairs, and keep the stairs clear of new toys.
- Outside: warm layers, a hat, mittens and boots, and stay off frozen ponds.

Is it a religious Christmas song?
No. It is about the things many families share at this time of year: a tree, presents, saying thank you, sharing, snow and hugs.
Why is there a verse about giving a present?
Because giving feels as good as getting. The song shows a child giving a present they wrapped, a hug and a thank you, then sharing new toys.

Stories to read next
Classic tales on the same theme, retold for reading aloud.
The Gingerbread Man
A little old woman bakes a gingerbread man and forgets about the time. He sits up, gets out through a propped-open door, and outruns everybody who chases him: the old woman, the old man, a cow, a horse and a barn full of threshers. Then he reaches a river, and a fox who has been sitting quite still offers him a lift.
The Ugly Duckling
A large grey bird hatches in a duckyard and is bitten, pecked and pushed about until he leaves. He survives a marsh, a very opinionated cat and hen, and a winter that nearly kills him. At the end he flies at a flock of swans expecting to be killed for daring to come near, and they welcome him, and only then does he look down and see what he is.
